Post #3: University Lab Examinations Next Week !

•June 18, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Calicut university declared our Semester 3 Lab examinations ! I don’t know what I am going to do for Basic Electronics Labs. I hate playing with those resistors, capacitors, transistors etc. They’ve allotted me 24 th June for Electronics and 26th June for C Programming Lab.

C Lab seems to be okay for me. I’ve practiced some programs and hope I can do well there. Pathetic is my situation with electronics. I used to mug up all those Electronics subjects since I entered engineering college. And now, I hope for the best to happen !

Another best thing happened in between is that I am getting good responses from my friends about Fedora 11 (Leonidas).

You may be wondering why I am not writing title properly as “Who am I “. Nothing special in it. I just wrote it in the Unix style.

When I type whoami in terminal of my Gnu/Linux desktop and press Enter, it will show jain. So, I am Jain Basil Aliyas. To know more about me, visit http://jainbasil.wordpress.com/about-me/

That much for now. whoohoo ! From this post, you studied a command in Gnu/Linux : whoami. Try for a google search to know more about this command !

“I don’t know exactly “

This is my answer to the title. For all people, diary is something that is personal and isĀ  not intended to be read by others. I had also started the same habit once, when I was doing first year in GEC, Thrissur and like all my jobs, that too stopped ! Now, I have some useless things happening in my life, and this will serve as the theme of this blog( Sometimes there will be topics that deviate from this marvellous theme.. hehe). That’s the speciality of Cronjob Chronicle.

Now, Why is it named Cronjob Chronicle ?

That’s really a big question. Firstly, I will explain what is a cron job.

Cron is the name of a program that enables unix users to execute commands or scripts (groups of commands) automatically at a specified time/date. It is normally used for system admin commands, like makewhatis, which builds a search database for the man -k command, or for running a backup script, but can be used for anything. A common use for it today is connecting to the internet and downloading your email.

These are very big things. So, we will deal with very small, tiny things. The Theory behind name of this blog is nothing but I just admire the concept behind Cron.

So, only that much behind Cronjob Chronicle. :D
